This educational Congress will focus on Retina\, but will discuss controversies in other related areas of ophthalmology\, including neuro-ophthalmology\, ocular imaging\, and uveitis. \nTopics will include the medical and surgical treatment of retinal diseases including age-related macular degeneration\, diabetic macular edema\, proliferative diabetic retinopathy\, retinal vein occlusions\, pathologic myopia\, and vitreomacular interface abnormalities\, as well as advances in ophthalmic imaging\, hereditary retinal diseases\, surgical innovations\, home monitoring\, and the role of deep learning (artificial intelligence) in these conditions. \nThe Congress aims at reaching up-to-date recommendations to ongoing debates even when data remain limited\, through evidence-based medicine\, including expert opinion. DESCRIPTION:Kære tilmeldte deltagere til DMOFs årsmøde\, \nRegion Hovedstaden har i onsdags sendt en mail ud til alle ansatte\, vedr. nye regler som omfatter deltagelse i konferencer og møder. \n“For ansatte på Rigshospitalet er udgangspunktet\, at konferencedeltagelse og deltagelse i store møder – nationalt og internationalt – ikke finder sted i den kommende periode. Eventuel dispensation besluttes lokalt. Ligeledes skal besøg fra udlandet aflyses.” \nDispensation er søgt til vores mindre møde\, med i alt 40 tilmeldte deltagere\, men desværre er dispensationen afslået. \nDet indebærer\, at seks af de tolv foredrag på årsmødet\, ikke vil kunne gennemføres. \nDMOFs bestyrelse har derfor besluttet\, at udskyde årsmøde og generalforsamling til et senere dato. \nVi vil meget\, meget gerne bibeholde det planlagte program\, og håber derfor\, at alle foredragsholdere og tilmedte deltagere har mod på\, at vi ses i Roskilde på et senere tidspunkt. \nVi vender tilbage vedr. dato\, så snart\, vi ved lidt mere. \nSe sidste revidering af programmet vedhæftet. \nDet er trist\, men der er ikke så meget at gøre og vi tror\, at vi har jeres fulde forståelse for denne beslutning\, med tanke på den sidste tids udvikling vedrørende Coronavirus. \nBedste hilsner\, \nPå vegne af DMOFs bestyrelse\, \nFormand Anna Björkroth \nProgram \n  \n  \nDMOF holder årsmøde i Roskilde den 14. marts. \nÅrsmødet henvender sig til alle\, som vil lære mere om det ortoptiske univers. \nSe venligst dette link: Program årsmødet 2020.1

SUMMARY:VISIONS IN RETINAL DISEASE – From Genetics to Personalized Medicine
DESCRIPTION:INVITATION \nPREAMBLE \nThe purpose of the symposium is to present a concentrated view on the most recent developments in the genetics of retinal disease\, especially inherited dystrophies\, with focus on patients’ perspective and personalized medicine. New aspects of molecular genetics and cell biology will be covered as well as unsolved problems\, like the “missing heritability”\, such as lack of demonstrable pathogenic variants in a large number of patients\, and\, contrarily\, the presence of two or more “competing” causative genes in a number of patients. New treatment strategies and technologies\, such as how to establish and use stem cells for therapy\, as well as comprehensive genome analysis as an initial preparation for gene therapy trials will be presented. We will finally discuss how research knowledge from inherited eye disease potentially can be generalized to more common diseases of the medical retina. DESCRIPTION:Dear member of Danish Ophthalmological Society\, \nIt is my pleasure to invite you to the DOG 2019\, the 117th congress of our society\, which will take place in Berlin from 26-29 September 2019. “Ophthalmology: Our Field and its Future” is the theme of the congress to be held in the Estrel Hotel in Berlin. \nFor most of us\, ophthalmology is “the most beautiful specialty in medicine”. In addition\, it is also an extremely important\, successful and appreciated medical sub-discipline whose supply mandate keeps growing steadily. In the interest of our current and future patients\, this is something that we can and should advertise to those on the outside in regular installments\, so that the relevance and appeal of our “small” specialty become more noticeable in the competition for motivated junior staff\, research funding or other resources in the health care sector. \nIntertwining foci of DOG 2019 will therefore be the communication of the fascination for our field that we and our patients have on the one hand and on future developments in ophthalmology on the other.
