DESCRIPTION:The 12th EuCornea Congress 2021 which is being organised as a virtual event on 25 September 2021 promises an innovative programme\, as well as plenty of passionate debate and high-quality science and research for its worldwide audience\, according to organisers. \n“The virtual congress platform will be even better than last year\, with many features designed to provide the opportunity for greater interactivity and engagement with our delegates and easier access to ‘on demand’ viewing\,” said George Kymionis\, President of EuCornea. \nWith registration now open for the one-day Congress\, Dr Kymionis said that while the COVID-19 pandemic had made a physical meeting impossible this year\, the organisers were committed to making the best of a difficult situation. \n“As always we have worked hard to bring high-quality scientific content from some of the most renowned world experts in the field of cornea. We have created an innovative congress programme with exceptional speakers and symposium topics\,” he said. \nThe meeting this year will cover the entire spectrum of corneal pathology with keynote sessions on corneal infection\, pain\, gene-based therapies for inherited corneal disease\, cataract and corneal dystrophy\, among other hot topics\, noted Dr Kymionis \n“We will also have two mentor workshops on corneal cross-linking and corneal imaging\, and two technical skills courses for corneal gluing/suturing\, and the amniotic membrane which have been added to this year’s programme\,” he added. \nThe fruitful collaboration between EuCornea and The Cornea Society will also be strengthened at the forthcoming Congress\, said Dr Kymionis. \n“In June we were pleased to partner with The Cornea Society to host our first joint education webinar on the topic ‘Tips and Tricks for Successful Lamellar Keratoplasty’. Following on from this success and to further increase and enhance this collaboration we are including a congress session in this year’s congress organised by The Cornea Society on the topic ‘Corneal Herpetic Disease\,’ he said. \nAnother highlight of the 12th EuCornea Congress will be the opening keynote Medal Lecture to be given by Prof. Jesper Hjortdal\, a past president of EuCornea\, on the topic ‘The role of immunology – reasons behind corneal grafts failing’. \nAlthough the virtual format has worked well since the pandemic began\, Dr Kymionis believes everyone is eager to return to in-person meetings as soon as possible. \n“While we were delighted to welcome so many delegates to last year’s virtual congress\, we appreciate that everyone is missing the personal contact and networking opportunities that can only be obtained with an in-person meeting. Gathering with colleagues is something that we are all missing. DESCRIPTION:Dear colleagues\, \ndue to the COVID19-pandemic we decided to postpone the 5th International Glaucoma Symposium.\nNow we are pleased to announce the 5th International Glaucoma Symposium and 1st International Childhood Glaucoma Symposium\, that will be held in Mainz\, Sep 3rd and 4th\, 2021. \nChildhood glaucoma is the most challenging in the field of glaucoma for numerous reasons: Diagnosis and adequate surgical treatment in a small eye is demanding\, the interdisciplinary management including consultation of parents\, involvement of anesthesiologists\, pediatricians\, human geneticists and orthoptists requires close cooperation and teamwork and an appropriate infrastructure. \nWe have organized an interdisciplinary meeting for delegates from around the world to meet and discuss complex childhood glaucoma cases\, and to share experiences in managing anesthesia\, surgery and follow-up in newborn and children with glaucoma. \nWe were able to recruit international glaucoma specialists on childhood glaucoma who will share their expertise with all of us. DESCRIPTION:Tilmeld dig her \nAnledningen til synskonferencen er\, at danske øjenpatienter med aggressive øjensygdomme som våd AMD i dag lades i stikken af det danske sundhedsvæsen. De venter i månedsvis på en tid til øjenlægen – både i praksis og på hospitalet – til diagnose og behandling og får skader og bliver blinde af deres sygdom i ventetiden. \nPå konferencen vil vi diskutere status quo og konsekvenser\, øjenfagligheden og kravene til øjenklinikkerne og hospitalerne. Vi vil drøfte konkrete politiske løsningsbud\, der skal sikre bedre rammer for rettidighed i diagnose og behandling. Dette er nødvendigt for\, at ingen skal miste synet\, mens de venter på diagnose og behandling. \nKonferencen har bl.a. en politisk debat mellem sundhedspolitikerne: Peder Hvelplund (E)\, Stinus Lindgreen (R)\, Jane Heitmann (V)\, Liselott Blixt (DF)\, Kirsten Normann Andersen (SF) og Per Larsen (K). \nDu vil også høre bidrag fra Morten la Cour\, professor og klinikchef på Rigshospitalets Afdeling for Øjensygdomme\, Daniella Bach-Holm\, formand i Dansk Oftalmologisk Selskab\, Jens Lundgaard Andresen\, formand i Danske Øjenlægers Organisation og mig selv i egenskab af direktør i Øjenforeningen. \n Se fuldt program her \nDen digitale synskonference giver mulighed for at kommentere oplæg og stille spørgsmål til alle præsentationer og debatter. DESCRIPTION:Plans are progressing well for the 11th Annual Congress on Controversies in Ophthalmology: Europe (COPHy EU) to be held in Lisbon\, Portugal\, March 26-28\, 2020. \nThe COPHy EU program\, returning to Lisbon in 2020\, again will be devoted to evidence-based debates and discussions amongst session moderators\, speakers and the audience\, all of whom will examine and analyze the most relevant and controversial issues raised during the course of 2019 and 2020 within the field of ophthalmology. This educational Congress will focus on Retina\, but will discuss controversies in other related areas of ophthalmology\, including neuro-ophthalmology\, ocular imaging\, and uveitis. \nTopics will include the medical and surgical treatment of retinal diseases including age-related macular degeneration\, diabetic macular edema\, proliferative diabetic retinopathy\, retinal vein occlusions\, pathologic myopia\, and vitreomacular interface abnormalities\, as well as advances in ophthalmic imaging\, hereditary retinal diseases\, surgical innovations\, home monitoring\, and the role of deep learning (artificial intelligence) in these conditions. \nThe Congress aims at reaching up-to-date recommendations to ongoing debates even when data remain limited\, through evidence-based medicine\, including expert opinion. DESCRIPTION:Kære tilmeldte deltagere til DMOFs årsmøde\, \nRegion Hovedstaden har i onsdags sendt en mail ud til alle ansatte\, vedr. nye regler som omfatter deltagelse i konferencer og møder. \n“For ansatte på Rigshospitalet er udgangspunktet\, at konferencedeltagelse og deltagelse i store møder – nationalt og internationalt – ikke finder sted i den kommende periode. Eventuel dispensation besluttes lokalt. Ligeledes skal besøg fra udlandet aflyses.” \nDispensation er søgt til vores mindre møde\, med i alt 40 tilmeldte deltagere\, men desværre er dispensationen afslået. \nDet indebærer\, at seks af de tolv foredrag på årsmødet\, ikke vil kunne gennemføres. \nDMOFs bestyrelse har derfor besluttet\, at udskyde årsmøde og generalforsamling til et senere dato. \nVi vil meget\, meget gerne bibeholde det planlagte program\, og håber derfor\, at alle foredragsholdere og tilmedte deltagere har mod på\, at vi ses i Roskilde på et senere tidspunkt. \nVi vender tilbage vedr. dato\, så snart\, vi ved lidt mere. \nSe sidste revidering af programmet vedhæftet. \nDet er trist\, men der er ikke så meget at gøre og vi tror\, at vi har jeres fulde forståelse for denne beslutning\, med tanke på den sidste tids udvikling vedrørende Coronavirus. \nBedste hilsner\, \nPå vegne af DMOFs bestyrelse\, \nFormand Anna Björkroth \nProgram \n  \n  \nDMOF holder årsmøde i Roskilde den 14. marts. \nÅrsmødet henvender sig til alle\, som vil lære mere om det ortoptiske univers. \nSe venligst dette link: Program årsmødet 2020.1
